Caustics and light refraction has always fascinated me. When i'm out at dinner or walking down the street the bright streaks of reflected light distract me and I allow my imagination to take over. I begin to think about the path the light takes traveling from the sun through our atmosphere bouncing off reflective material and displaying these bright dazzling complex visuals. I wanted to take more control of these natural forces and created a controlled space in my room to experiment. I gathered dishes and cups from my kitchen and started shining my phone light through the glass letting the reflections shine onto a sheet of paper taped to my wall. Hours of playing and testing I had enough footage to begin editing a small cut of some of my favorite shots.
